Scholarship partnership a first for Uni's Sonography program

CQUniversity has signed a new scholarship partnership with Bundaberg Radiology, providing the first scholarship for Central Queensland's new Sonography program.

Bundaberg Radiology is part of the BR Radiology group, which has radiology practices in both Queensland and New South Wales. Completing the Queensland locations are Bolsover Radiology (Rockhampton) and Bayside Radiology (Hervey Bay).  Operations Manager Graeme Cashin said BR was delighted to be involved in such a scholarship with CQUniversity.

The Sonography program is based at Mackay Campus but will provide qualified sonographers to fill future vacancies across the whole of regional Queensland and beyond.

Donor Prize and Scholarship Coordinator Tamsen Clifford-Banks said the scholarship aimed to encourage and support students embarking on a career in sonography.

It will be offered to first-year students in Term 1 of the Sonography program for at least four years.

CQUniversity offers the first accredited program of its kind in Australia which allows applicants the opportunity to study sonography without having first taken another degree.

The program is a three-year undergraduate degree in medical sonography combined with a one-year postgraduate diploma in medical sonography.

It includes a large amount of clinical placements with industry, linked to the theory taught during each year of the program.
