Engaging Indigenous people within Higher Ed

CQUniversity's Office of Indigenous Engagement recently hosted a visit from the Oodgeroo Unit of Queensland University of Technology (QUT), at Rockhampton Campus.

Professor Anita Lee Hong, Director of the Oodgeroo Unit, and Lone Pearce, Project Officer, met with Office of Indigenous Engagement staff to discuss employment issues and best practice models for engaging Indigenous people within the higher education sector, including governance matters.

Conservatorium's Gasser plans Powerhouse performance 

Central Queensland Conservatorium of Music academic and renowned concert pianist Mark Gasser will perform a 20th Century masterpiece at Brisbane Powerhouse* in March.

Gasser will perform Messiaen's stunning Vingt Regards sur l'Enfant-Jésus, during a concert from 7.30pm on Thursday March 13.

At just over 2 hours in length, this piece is rarely performed in its entirety and uninterrupted.

Gasser will also perform Ravel's Gaspard de la Nuit: Trois Poèmes pour Piano d'apreš Aloysius Bertrand.

According to the event promotion, Gasser has performed over 50 Concerti across 5 continents in leading venues including New York's Carnegie Hall. He has played alongside Peter Donohoe, Dmitri Alexeev, Boris Berezovsky and Nikolai Demidenko.

His versatility has also seen him work with popular artists such as Pink, Jarvis Cocker and Björk. In 2002 he was "Bösendorfer Artist of the Year".
