Engaging Indigenous people within Higher Ed

CQUniversity's Office of Indigenous Engagement recently hosted a visit from the Oodgeroo Unit of Queensland University of Technology (QUT), at Rockhampton Campus.

Professor Anita Lee Hong, Director of the Oodgeroo Unit, and Lone Pearce, Project Officer, met with Office of Indigenous Engagement staff to discuss employment issues and best practice models for engaging Indigenous people within the higher education sector, including governance matters.

CRE staff impacts conference 

CQU’s Centre for Railway Engineering made an impact on the biennial national Conference on Railway Engineering held in Wollongong this month.

PhotoID:580 With nine staff members and seven postgraduate students attending, the CRE presented four papers by Dr Yeboah Gyasi-Agyei and Queensland Rail; Mitch McClanachan and Queensland Rail; Scott Simpson, Dr Colin Cole with Pat Wilson; and Yan Quan Sun and Dr Manicka Dhanasekar.

Papers included the Cost Effective Strategies for Railway Batter Erosion Control; Monitoring the Dynamics of Freight Wagons; Evaluation and Training of Train Drivers during Normal Train Operations; and the Influence of the Railway Track Parameters to the Dynamic Response of the Track Components.
