Engaging Indigenous people within Higher Ed

CQUniversity's Office of Indigenous Engagement recently hosted a visit from the Oodgeroo Unit of Queensland University of Technology (QUT), at Rockhampton Campus.

Professor Anita Lee Hong, Director of the Oodgeroo Unit, and Lone Pearce, Project Officer, met with Office of Indigenous Engagement staff to discuss employment issues and best practice models for engaging Indigenous people within the higher education sector, including governance matters.

Collectors needed for Red Shield Appeal 

The final call has been sent out for collectors and drivers for this weekend's Red Shield Appeal doorknock.

Eighty people from CQU's zone have already offered their services, but more are needed.

PhotoID:884 Coordinator for the CQU event, corporate events officer Gina Yarrow said by being involved in the Appeal, CQU will highlight its community spirit and ties to the Rockhampton community.

“The community spirit of CQU is well known and will come to the fore with this event,” she said.

“I encourage all staff and students to take on this challenge and become involved as volunteers.

Anyone who may be able to collect or drive this weekend for the appeal should contact Gina Yarrow as soon as possible today.

Each team will be responsible for collecting in a certain area in the zone. Collection should take about two hours.

Saturday and Sunday May 24 and 25 are the official collection days for the Salvation Army, with the students from Capricorn College involved the following weekend of May 30 - 31.
