Engaging Indigenous people within Higher Ed

CQUniversity's Office of Indigenous Engagement recently hosted a visit from the Oodgeroo Unit of Queensland University of Technology (QUT), at Rockhampton Campus.

Professor Anita Lee Hong, Director of the Oodgeroo Unit, and Lone Pearce, Project Officer, met with Office of Indigenous Engagement staff to discuss employment issues and best practice models for engaging Indigenous people within the higher education sector, including governance matters.

Tess Sanders-Lazarus biography 

Tess Sanders-Lazarus, MBA USC is the Founder and Managing Director of the Brand Management Agency, Invigorate. Tess has worked extensively with the Queensland public sector and federal government since 1986. Prior to establishing Invigorate, she held various positions with the Australian Taxation Office (ATO) in both Canberra and Brisbane and her previous positions include National Director, GST Referral Service, Project Director, ATO Portal, and Director, Budget and Resource Management.

Her extensive business background has been a major component of Invigorate's success and, in 2000, she was recognised as a Finalist in the "Telstra Business Women of the Year" awards.

She is a Fellow of the Australian Institute of Management, Treasurer and Director of the Queensland Board of Economic Development (Logan), Chairman of the Alannah and Madeline Foundation and the Australian Federal Police Foundation, and Director of Variety Qld and SIDS, ACT. She is currently studying for a Doctor of Business Administration.
