TelecomFiji Sale of CQU Campus in Suva

TelecomFiji has accepted an offer from the University of the South Pacific to purchase the property currently utilised by Central Queensland University (CQU) at its Fiji International Campus.

The lease is held through Campus Group, our education services provider in Fiji, and expires in March 2004.

CQU has known for some time that TelecomFiji intended to sell the site by tender. CQU was not in a position to invest in property in Fiji and was therefore not a bidder for the site. CQU has indicated to all involved that it would be happy to remain as a long-term tenant on this specific-use site.

CQU has engaged in and is continuing discussions with the University of the South Pacific to secure an outcome that fully recognises the commitment CQU has to current students to ensure they complete their studies in all programs offered at the campus.

The long-term level of representation by CQU in Fiji is dependent on the outcomes of these discussions. Students will be briefed as further information becomes available.
