Vice-Chancellor's Award for Excellence to Professional Staff

In her role as Senior Employee Relations Officer in the People and Culture Directorate, Shaelene consistently demonstrates an outstanding level of performance.  She epitomises the values of customer service and commitment, performing her duties to a high level and exhibiting many admirable qualities including accuracy, thoroughness, professionalism and integrity.  She works cooperatively within her team, willingly providing assistance and support to her colleagues when required.

By adopting an innovative approach to human resources, Shaelene has led a number of initiatives to streamline activities and improve efficiency, including a Policy Review Project and the development of the University's Workforce Planning Framework.  She held an integral role in the Organisational Review project over a period of more than three years.  This project was highly sensitive, at times controversial, and always conducted within a high pressure environment.  Shaelene worked industriously to ensure the integrity of the University's Managing Change process, by working with staff from different work areas to develop appropriate structures and Position Descriptions to meet their needs.  In addition she provided valuable strategic advice and support to the University's senior managers about Change Proposals.  Her efforts were instrumental in delivering positive outcomes for the University.

In 2010 Shaelene was seconded to assist the newly appointed Pro Vice-Chancellor (Learning and Teaching) to develop the framework for the establishment of the Office of Learning and Teaching.  Her role included liaising with relevant stakeholders and seeking feedback to guide the development of a suitable organisational structure, writing associated Position Descriptions and organising the transfer of budgets to the new Office.  Her efforts contributed to the successful and seamless establishment of this new Office.

Shaelene is an effective, hardworking and dedicated member of staff whose work has earned her a reputation where she is held in the highest regard by her peers, her supervisor and her colleagues from all parts of the University.

It is for these reasons that Shaelene Crawford is a worthy and deserving recipient of a 2010 Vice-Chancellor's Award for Excellence to Professional Staff.
