Mr Smith graduated from CQU with an MBA in 1997. He is an Associate of the Australian Property Institute, a Member of the Urban Development Institute of Australia and a Fellow of the Australian Institute of Management. He has over 28 years experience in land management and valuation across a broad spectrum of industry and property types.

He has extensive experience and background in dealing with government, having held senior executive management positions within government agencies prior to taking up his initial position with Port Binnli as Executive Manager, Property.

Port Binnli was formed in 1993 to develop a Marina Project at Raby Bay. The company is now a multi million dollar enterprise with projects throughout Queensland – the largest of which is (currently) award-winning Mackay Marina Village.

Making the CEO announcement in Brisbane earlier in June, Port Binnli director Malcolm Hall Brown said: “The Directors of Port Binnli were delighted when Jeff joined the team and we are confident in his ability to take Port Binnli to the next level”.

Bringing a wide skill set and experience to the company, Mr Smith describes his mission as “to deliver quality projects that enhance the modern lifestyle, provide a focus for community living and ultimately provide an optimum return for shareholders and investors”.

“I want to ensure Port Binnli and the associated companies continue to create innovative projects in terms of design, construction and livability that stand the test of time. Projects such as our flagship the Mackay Marina prove our commitment to sustainability. We are at the forefront in creating world class precincts that are not only a great place to live but are destinations to visit and enjoy”.

PhotoID:3031 Mr Smith's government career has spanned a range of departments including: the Valuer General, Lands, Natural Resources and Natural Resources and Mines. As Regional Services Director for Central Queensland at the time of his departure, he also completed a stint as an Acting Deputy Director General.
