Central Queensland University grabbed the attention of Malaysia's Minister for Higher Education, Mr Datuk Shafie Salleh, at last month's Austrade Study in Australia Education Exhibition, in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
Impressed by the University's capital city campuses and multiple intakes a year, CQU's exhibit was one of only a few sites that Mr Datuk Salleh visited during the expo.
Global Sales Manager for Central Queensland University Jerry Siden said the Minister was interested in CQU's offerings in nursing and health, psychology and engineering.
More than 5000 people visited the expo, with more than half of the inquiries being for undergraduate programs, while about a fifth of inquiries were for postgraduate study. More than half of the students said they were looking at beginning study within the next 12 months.
Organisers of the expo ranked business and engineering as the most popular areas of study.
CQU has recently completed more than a dozen articulation agreements with eight Malaysian institutions, providing pathways for Malaysian diploma students into CQU degrees in Australia.
