It's live (Jim) but not as we know him?

CQU Rockhampton researcher Jim Douglas kilted up recently to raise money for Capricorn Animal Aid, as a member of the local band Therapeutic Paradox.

Jim, who is researching music videos for a PhD and compiling a doco on the birth of punk music in Rocky, was guitarist and singer for the band's debut for the fundraiser arranged by former punk musician turned librarian Cameron Borg.

Other members of TP include Mark ‘Potter' Briggs (keyboards, backing vocals), and drumming legend Robbie Ward.

The event featured an outstanding line-up that mixed local talent with Chris Dale from Brisbane alt-country group Halfway and Tim Steward from the Brisbane-based long running indie act Screamfeeder. Other performers included Yanna Day and Peta Harth from local pop group the Silence, singer/songwriter Joe Coll and old-school punks Slag (which featured Cameron Borg). The music ranged from full-on punk (Slag) to girl-pop (Yanna & Peta), to singer songwriter folk rock (Joe Coll) and all other elements in between.

Thanks go to the venue owners, Mel and Daniel from the Anchor Hotel, for their combined support that helped not only a very worthy charity (the performers all played for free), as well as giving the chance for such a variety of performers to play together. Thanks also go to the many supporters from CQU's ITD division who were there on the night, making their collective presence felt in more ways than one!.
