Relay prompts rainbow of hope on campus
Published on 19 May, 2008
The Relay for Life event held at CQU Rockhampton over the weekend prompted a rainbow of hope, with a record 116 teams and funds raised to date topping $202,000.
Relay for Life is a key fundraiser for The Cancer Council Queensland, involving an overnight teams relay, a survivor's walk and a touching candle ceremony to honour loved ones.
The weekend contains elements of celebration of survival, remembrance and 'fightback'.
Congratulations must go to all participants and teams but Blackwater's Pink Angels were worthy of note, having raised more than $21,000 towards the total.
A team from CQU Facilities Management was also worthy of note in terms of keeping spirits up, with their mouse-racing tent packed to the rafters throughout the night.
Sponsors and supporters of Relay of Life in Rockhampton include CQU, The Morning Bulletin, SeaFM, ABC Capricornia, WIN TV and the AMP Foundation.
