CQU alumnus in running for Hibiscus King crown

Fiji-based CQU alumnus Avnit Narayan is Midcity Plaza's contestant for the 2007 Hibiscus King crown and wants to raise awareness on HIV/AIDS, which he believes is the biggest threat to Fiji.

That is according to an article in The Fiji Times this week (July 11) which says the 25-year-old believes his participation in the 2007 Vodafone Hibiscus contest is a great opportunity to highlight the issues.

The newspaper reports that Mr Narayan wants to become one of Fiji's youngest and most successful businessman and already owns 3  shops in the plaza, namely Core Technologies Limited, Chicken Express and Juiced Up.

He is originally from Suva and attended Dilkusha Boys School for his primary education and International Secondary School.

He completed his foundation studies at the Central Queensland University and went to New Zealand in 2002 to finish his tertiary education at Unitec University.

The Fiji Times reports that Avnit stayed in New Zealand for 4 years and during the time, dabbled in modelling and acting while he studied. He came to Fiji last September to do a movie in Sigatoka which comes out in September this year.
