Outstanding Melbourne students out of Africa, India and Fiji

Students who have come to Australia from Africa, India and Fiji have been congratulated as the latest State Director's Award winners at CQUniversity Melbourne, ahead of their graduation ceremony on December 17.
These awards acknowledge outstanding academic achievement as well as leadership potential and inspirational qualities, including contributions to learning activities, assistance to fellow students, respect for cultural diversity and strong interpersonal and communication skills.
The four winners for Term 2, 2010 are:
Monty Verma - Bachelor of Information Technology
After working in Africa with a manufacturing export company, Monty chose to study in Australia and arrived in Melbourne over two years ago. Originally from Delhi in India, he has worked part-time here in the food retail sector, developing his customer service skills while pursuing his IT studies. Monty offered high praise for the excellent support he received from his teachers and the wide range of CQUniversity services. Staff in turn commended his academic achievements, impressive communication skills, support of other students and the role model he provided as an active contributor to classes. Monty aims to find work as a systems analyst or developer.
Magan Aggarwal- Bachelor of Accounting
Arriving two years ago from India's Punjab area, Magan completed his degree in minimum time with numerous distinctions and an outstanding grade average. Described by his teachers as a quiet, respectful achiever, Magan is a confident communicator who regularly supported and provided a fine example and motivation to other students, by demonstrating effort and his desire to excel to the very best of his abilities. Staff have no doubt this attitude and application will assist him to achieve the internship he seeks, and his longer-term goal of a position as Chief Financial Officer with one of the prestigious accounting firms in Melbourne.
Vattandeep Kaur -Master of Information Technology
After less than two years in Australia since leaving India, Vattandeep has completed her degree with amazing results and one of the highest grade averages ever achieved on Melbourne campus. Modestly, she attributes this achievement to excellent guidance from her teachers as well as the constant support offered at home by her husband. However staff identified her potential early, noting her curiosity for learning and the significant effort she contributed to reach the high standards she set for herself. Vattandeep is now keen to complete a professional year before finding ongoing employment with a major telecommunications company.
Prasad Kushiel - Master of Business Administration
Originally from Lautoka in Fiji, Prasad has studied in Melbourne for two years to complete his postgraduate studies, while also undertaking part-time work as an export adviser with Austrade. Described as an exceptional MBA student, Prasad was an active contributor, always happy to assist other students while achieving solid results for himself. His future goals include fortifying his accounting and finance qualifications to ensure he can secure a senior management role in the finance sector, preferably with a major Australian bank. Prasad's mature approach and communication skills have been acknowledged with his selection as the representative for the entire graduate group.
