Free jazz 'down by the riverside'

All are welcome to enjoy free jazz, blues and latin music at Rockhampton's Riverside Park, from 2pm-5pm on Sunday, May 17, thanks to a partnership between CQUniversity's Bachelor of Music program and ABC Radio Capricornia.

This event will feature trumpeter Dr Michael Davison and students from the University of Richmond (USA), as well Rockhampton Campus music staff and various student ensembles. It's possible that local high school bands will also perform.

Bachelor of Music program coordinator Derrin Kerr said the American and Australian university students would perform together on the riverside ahead of their scheduled gigs on Hamilton Island.

"The 3 days of educational and performance activities on Hamilton Island is part of a program which occurs between 4 and 6 times each year, in conjunction with the island," he said.
