Engaging Indigenous people within Higher Ed

CQUniversity's Office of Indigenous Engagement recently hosted a visit from the Oodgeroo Unit of Queensland University of Technology (QUT), at Rockhampton Campus.

Professor Anita Lee Hong, Director of the Oodgeroo Unit, and Lone Pearce, Project Officer, met with Office of Indigenous Engagement staff to discuss employment issues and best practice models for engaging Indigenous people within the higher education sector, including governance matters.

World Environment Day bid based on CQU PhD study 

Among the finalists for the recent 2008 United Nations Association of Australia World Environment Day Awards was Midell Developments, the company behind the Sunrise at 1770 project.

A related company - Midell Water Solutions Pty Ltd - has been formed from the intellectual property from PhD study by CQU's Ben Kele.

Mr Kele is proud that CQU was able to play a part in the bid for the 'Excellence in Sustainable Water Management Award' category, thanks to its input into and support for the wastewater facilities at Sunrise.

A number of University staff and students have been involved in the Sunrise project, in a relationship spearheaded by Mr Kele.

Winners were announced at the World Environment Day Awards presentation dinner held on June 6 at Melbourne's Grand Hyatt. A List of winners will be available soon at this link.
