The Bark Cutters is a gripping family saga by Australia's newest bush storyteller, Nicole Alexander.
Past and present interweave in a story that traces the Gordon family from the arrival of Scottish immigrant Hamish Gordon in the 1850s, to the life of his great grand-daughter, Sarah.
The CQUniversity Master of Letters Alumnus will visit the University Bookshop on Rockhampton Campus on Wednesday May 26 for a lunchtime visit and book signing at 12.30pm.
Nicole is a fourth-generation grazier working full-time on her family property located 110km north-west of Moree, near the NSW-QLD border.
She had previously left the property for a glamorous life and good job in the city, but has now returned to run the property and write in her spare time.
Nicole's very successful non-fiction title, How to Get a Girl - a glovebox guide for men lead to numerous media interviews and speaking engagements. She had guest appearances at the NSW Writers' Centre, offered dating tips on top-range FM Perth radio station Nova and judged The Queensland Country Life's Bachelor and Bachelorette Competition.
She has also published poetry collections including Divertissements - Love-War-Society selected poems, which were printed with the assistance of a literary grant from The Poet's Network.
