Engaging Indigenous people within Higher Ed

CQUniversity's Office of Indigenous Engagement recently hosted a visit from the Oodgeroo Unit of Queensland University of Technology (QUT), at Rockhampton Campus.

Professor Anita Lee Hong, Director of the Oodgeroo Unit, and Lone Pearce, Project Officer, met with Office of Indigenous Engagement staff to discuss employment issues and best practice models for engaging Indigenous people within the higher education sector, including governance matters.

Aid organisation CEO guest for Brisbane graduation 

CARE Australia CEO Dr Robert Glasser (pictured) is the guest speaker for next Monday's (December 11) CQU graduation ceremony in Brisbane.

Dr Glasser will address 127 students from 27 different nations, across 4 different continents.

The Chancellor and Vice-Chancellor are officiating.

CARE Australia is one of Australia’s leading aid agencies, providing emergency relief and development assistance to millions in need.

Prior to coming to CARE, Dr Glasser was Assistant Director General at the Australian Agency for International Development (AusAID) with responsibility for the Papua New Guinea program, AusAID’s largest. He was previously responsible for the Corporate Policy and Mekong Branches at AusAID.

Dr Glasser has also worked on international energy and environmental issues for the United States Department of Energy and on peace and conflict issues at a number of institutions, including the Cornell University Peace Studies Program, the International Institute for Strategic Studies in London, and the Arms Control Association in Washington DC.
