Engaging Indigenous people within Higher Ed

CQUniversity's Office of Indigenous Engagement recently hosted a visit from the Oodgeroo Unit of Queensland University of Technology (QUT), at Rockhampton Campus.

Professor Anita Lee Hong, Director of the Oodgeroo Unit, and Lone Pearce, Project Officer, met with Office of Indigenous Engagement staff to discuss employment issues and best practice models for engaging Indigenous people within the higher education sector, including governance matters.

CQU Hosts Cancer Fundraisers 

Capricornia College was among a variety of CQU workplaces to hold \'Australia\'s Biggest Morning Tea\' cancer fundraisers this week.

Meanwhile, Rockhampton Campus will host a major Relay for Life fundraiser for the Queensland Cancer Fund next week.

PhotoID:716 Around 50 teams and 550 team members are expected to attend the Relay for Life event, from 4pm on Saturday (May 31) until 10am the following day.

Many CQU staff and students are involved, with those in key roles including Dr Geoff Dickson (coordinator of volunteers), Michelle Ilott (entertainment coordinator), Tony Gubbins (MC), Laurie Kneen (karaoke caller), Dimitri Kopanakis (inspirational songs), Marc Barnbaum (promotion), and Mike Dempsey and Paul Tennent (logistics). The whole team from Facilities Management has been integral to the event\'s success.
