Engaging Indigenous people within Higher Ed

CQUniversity's Office of Indigenous Engagement recently hosted a visit from the Oodgeroo Unit of Queensland University of Technology (QUT), at Rockhampton Campus.

Professor Anita Lee Hong, Director of the Oodgeroo Unit, and Lone Pearce, Project Officer, met with Office of Indigenous Engagement staff to discuss employment issues and best practice models for engaging Indigenous people within the higher education sector, including governance matters.

Engineers impressed by CQU Bundaberg 

CQU Bundaberg science lecturer Desirae Kirby was thrilled to play host to 31 visiting engineers and chemists from the Burnett Local Group of Engineers Australia and the Southern Institute of Sugar Technologists last Thursday evening.

Following a welcoming address by Head of Campus Professor Phillip Clift, the guests were treated to a presentation on the construction of the new $5 million academic and research buildings, incorporating a 64-seat teaching laboratory, 2 research laboratories, a sound studio, offices and administration area.  The visit concluded with a tour of the facilities and refreshments.

Ms Kirby said the good attendance on the night was an indication of our members high level of interest in this visit.
