Australia's recreational walkers can now have their million-steps milestones recognised via the popular 10,000 Steps website.

The free website, which already has more than 30,000 members, has a variety of different features and challenges to keep individuals motivated.

PhotoID:3686 It also allows members to compare their walking statistics directly with those of other members across Australia and internationally.

"The million milestones challenge is a new feature that has been developed to encourage individuals to participate in regular physical activity while also appealing to one's competitive nature!," said 10,000 Steps Project Officer Anetta Hinchliffe.

Details are available via www.10000steps.org.au .

10,000 Steps is funded by Queensland Health and the project office is based at Central Queensland University in Rockhampton.
