The 'Gladstone Teaching Team' at Central Queensland University was recently recognised for its innovative approach and dedication to the Bachelor of Learning Management.
The Faculty of Education and Creative Arts lecturers, Dr Beverley Moriarty, Helen Holden, Lyn Hughes and Valerie Cleary have been awarded the 2002 Dean's Award for Quality Teaching.
Foundation Dean for the Faculty of Education and Creative Arts, Professor Jim Mienczakowski, said he was particularly impressed with the team's innovative and transdisciplinary approach to curriculum design.
"In the past 18 months they have worked as a dynamic teaching team and have produced very favourable outcomes for their students.
"They have done a considerable amount of work within the education sector and the wider community, ensuring that the new BLM degree is a success." The Dean further commented that the University is delighted and is extremely lucky to have academics of this calibre working within CQU's education communities.
The BLM aims to produce teachers equipped to give students an individualised program of education.
It is the new teacher education approach for the new conditions and the new type of society expected in the new millennium.
The Gladstone teaching team will now represent their Faculty in the Vice-Chancellor's Award for Quality Teaching.
