Engaging Indigenous people within Higher Ed

CQUniversity's Office of Indigenous Engagement recently hosted a visit from the Oodgeroo Unit of Queensland University of Technology (QUT), at Rockhampton Campus.

Professor Anita Lee Hong, Director of the Oodgeroo Unit, and Lone Pearce, Project Officer, met with Office of Indigenous Engagement staff to discuss employment issues and best practice models for engaging Indigenous people within the higher education sector, including governance matters.

WIST info sessions commence 

WIST coordinator Robyn Donovan will be holding information sessions for women wishing to return to study during February and March.

The sessions will be held in a range of centres in Central and South East Qld.

PhotoID:3839 Ms Donovan said that at this time of the year, when school recommences, women tend to review their options and some decide to return to study.

The information sessions will give women the opportunity to meet the WIST coordinator and also meet other WIST students.

The first information session will be held at the Noosaville Leisure Centre on Tuesday January 30. Additional information sessions will be held in Kingaroy, Blackwater, Yeppoon, Narangba and Burpengary.

WIST also welcomes new staff member Karen Green who has recently taken up the position of Administrative Officer.

Karen has come to WIST from Engineering where she provided support to the Program Directors.

Karen is looking forward to being involved with helping students on a day-to-day basis.

She has lived in Rockhampton all her life and has been at CQU for nearly 2 years.
