Standing Committee visits railway research centre

The Standing Committee on Transport and Regional Services visited the Rail Cooperative Research Centre at Central Queensland University (Building 70) in Rockhampton this week.
A CQU research team will likley play a future role in the region's future inland rail project. Rail Co-operative Research Centre Executive Dudley Roach said,however, the actual railway is still in its planning stages. The Standing Committee also toured the Rail Vehicle Testing Laboratory.
The visiting Standing Committee included Chair Paul Neville, Deputy Chair Steve Gibbons, Alby Schultz, Patrick Secker, Member for Capricornia Kirsten Livermore, Ian Dundas and Tas Luttrell.
The function was also attended by the Centre for Railway Engineering’s Director Dr Manicka Dhanasekar, senior lecturer for the Faculty of Engineering & Physical Systems and CRE’s Dr Colin Cole, CQU’s Professor Ken Kwong, CQU’s Associate Dean of Research Professor Peter Wolfs and Dean of the Faculty of Engineering and Physical Systems Professor Elizabeth Taylor.
