Engaging Indigenous people within Higher Ed

CQUniversity's Office of Indigenous Engagement recently hosted a visit from the Oodgeroo Unit of Queensland University of Technology (QUT), at Rockhampton Campus.

Professor Anita Lee Hong, Director of the Oodgeroo Unit, and Lone Pearce, Project Officer, met with Office of Indigenous Engagement staff to discuss employment issues and best practice models for engaging Indigenous people within the higher education sector, including governance matters.

Proven teaching success separated from hunches and mumbo jumbo 

Teachers, school managers, academics and education policy makers will gather in Queensland in August (22-24) to look at teaching success based on proven, evidence-based practices.

They will hear from leading educational experts including a videoconference link with American Dr Robert Marzano, author of many books including 'The Art and Science of Teaching',  'Teaching with Dimensions of Learning' and 'Classroom Instruction that Works'. Other speakers will represent the Australian Council for Educational Research and Central Queensland University's Learning Management program.

The inaugural 'Learning Management: Pedagogy that works' conference will be held at the Twin Waters Resort on the Sunshine Coast, and is hosted by CQU Noosa Hub.

The conference will explore what research says about 'what actually does make a difference for student learning'. It includes a focus on the Dimensions of Learning and Instructional Design, as these are some cutting-edge aspects of learning.
