A successful four-day workshop in robotics was conducted at CQUniversity Bundaberg recently.
Lecturer Dr Rosie Thrupp said the event was one aspect of a TREK (Teaching Robotics Education across Key learning areas) project which forms one stream of her research.

She said it was great to see 20 Lego NXT kits and their numerous pieces being used innovatively and with great enthusiasm "by our future engineers, scientists and technologically literate citizenry".
"Peter Feerick, a BLM secondary student and one of the TREKKING team designed and implemented the four days of workshops with students form Years 6-11," Dr Thrupp said.
"On each day, there were approximately 23 children in attendance. In all, 45 students attended over the four days, many returning for all four days. There were 16 hours of workshops in all.
"This was a tremendous effort from Peter who was also mentoring other BLM students learning about Lego NXT potential."
Dr Thrupp said this event was a lead-up to the Secondary Robotics challenge to be held on campus on November 19.
"You are all invited to attend this event and watch creativity, divergent thinking, problem solving, science, design technology, and mathematics in action."
