Engaging Indigenous people within Higher Ed

CQUniversity's Office of Indigenous Engagement recently hosted a visit from the Oodgeroo Unit of Queensland University of Technology (QUT), at Rockhampton Campus.

Professor Anita Lee Hong, Director of the Oodgeroo Unit, and Lone Pearce, Project Officer, met with Office of Indigenous Engagement staff to discuss employment issues and best practice models for engaging Indigenous people within the higher education sector, including governance matters.

Record entries expected for junior robotics 

Record entries are expected for the CQ Junior Robotics Competition to be run by CQU at Rockhampton's DPI Conference Centre tomorrow (Friday, August 3).

A total of 27 teams are expected from Mackay, Rockhampton, Gladstone and Maryborough.

This year, teams will compete in the categories of dance and soccer and also the re-formatted category of 'rescue' and it is hoped participants will come from as far afield as Maryborough and Mackay.

Organiser Jason Bell said the CQ competitions were run under the RoboCup Junior Australia Competition rules.

The competition is sponsored by CQU, Verbatim, TravelCrew, CQU Bookshop, The Morning Bulletin and South Cross Ten.

The event will be held from 10am to 4pm. Vice-Chancellor Professor John Rickard will officially open the event.

Interested audience members are welcome to attend any of the sessions for free.
