School visits Rocky campus

About 30 year nine students from Pioneer State High School in Mackay toured Central Queensland University Rockhampton campus last week during a visit to the region.
CQU recruitment officer Tony Gubbins headed the tour dropping in at the School of Health and Human Performance, Faculty of Engineering and Physical Systems and School of Environmental Sciences.
Students spoke with PhD candidate Ben Dascombe in the Health and Human Performance lab about the research and career opportunities that come out of the School.
Faculty of Engineering and Physical System’s Colin Cole demonstrated the wagon shaker in the heavy vehicle testing laboratory (Hi-Lab), at times startling the students with its noise. Students were also treated to a look inside the CQU solar car.
Students toured the biology department, before venturing out to the aquaculture ponds to feed the silver perch.
School visits to CQU Rockhampton are coordinated by Community Relations.
