Engaging Indigenous people within Higher Ed

CQUniversity's Office of Indigenous Engagement recently hosted a visit from the Oodgeroo Unit of Queensland University of Technology (QUT), at Rockhampton Campus.

Professor Anita Lee Hong, Director of the Oodgeroo Unit, and Lone Pearce, Project Officer, met with Office of Indigenous Engagement staff to discuss employment issues and best practice models for engaging Indigenous people within the higher education sector, including governance matters.

Ashwath launches native plant book 

CQU Plant Sciences researcher Dr Nanjappa Ashwath has launched a new book called 'Native Plants for the Fitzroy Catchment', produced by the Rockhampton branch of the Society for Growing Australian Plants.

PhotoID:974 The launch was held at Kershaw Gardens in the presence of the national president of SGAP Laurie Smith.

About 50 people gathered for the occasion, which included a display of native plants and the tasting of native plant produce (eg Davidson plum jam).

The book is very useful to native plant enthusiasts and is being sold at $18. Details are available via Ashwath on n.ashwath@cqu.edu.au .
