Rockhampton Communities for Children and CQUniversity will host this year's ‘Romp in the Park' which is a children's festival designed to help bring the community together. ‘ROMP' will be held in the Rockhampton Botanic Gardens on Friday May 24 from 9am to 1pm.
Romp in the Park promises to be an exciting day of interactive activities and learning opportunities and aims to celebrate young people and their families in the local community. Organisers hope to see all local families come and enjoy the celebrations.

Rockhampton Communities for Children is facilitated by national children's charity The Smith Family and is an initiative of the Australian Government funded by the Department of Families, Housing, Community Services and Indigenous Affairs.
The theme of this year's ROMP is ‘Celebrating community: sharing stories, music, movement and culture - thinking locally'. The day will be filled with face painting, story telling, dancing, building with clay, navigating maizes, building masks, drawing and playing. Children's author Mark Svensden will also be reading from his popular books.
The aim of the day is to advocate for children and families, promote the rich contribution children make to the community, promote the quality literacy and learning experiences for families and profile the local services available for children and families.
Early childhood centres, kindergartens, schools and the Rockhampton Regional Library will be attending the celebrations and hosting workshops for parents and children. Countless resources will also be available from the many charity groups attending on the day including The Smith Family, Breast Feeding Australia, Red Cross, The Salvation Army, The Pyjama Foundation and many more.
