Teens from throughout Central Queensland are invited to take part in Siemens Science Experience at CQUniversity in Rockhampton from January 20 to 22 in 2009.
The 3-day event is open to current year 9 students. It is designed to show students the fun and practical side of science and technology as well as provide a social activity for the teens on their school holidays.
Central Queensland teens enjoyed the hands-on science activities as part of the Siemens Science Experience earlier this year.Students will be kept busy with activities such as bridge construction, insect flight biology, human performance testing, studying why diseases are spread, building a computerised tone generator and testing a toad's heart with a variety of drugs.
Yeppoon student Max Davies, a participant from this year's event, said he thoroughly enjoyed the science experience.
"I found the Siemens Science Experience very valuable and I thoroughly enjoyed the activities on offer. I found the environment both friendly and helpful, with the staff willing to become involved with the kids."
Event coordinator in Rockhampton Pete Carseldine said Siemens Science Experience was designed to provide students who have an interest in science with an opportunity to engage in a wide range of fascinating activities under the guidance of scientists who love their work.
CQUniversity and Siemens have hosted the event for the past 13 years enabling local year 10 students to investigate the world of science, meet other like-minded students and enjoy a university experience.
Registrations will be closing December 15. Registrations can be completed via http://www.scienceexperience.com.au/ .
