High school students become a shadow at CQU Bundaberg

5 high school students from Isis District High School and Bundaberg Christian College took part in a shadowing program at Central Queensland University Bundaberg recently.
The shadowing program was developed to give senior high school students a real life experience of university. For 2 days, university students were shadowed by the high school students, attending lectures, tutorials and workshops during a normal university day.
“It was a fun experience and quite different from classes in high school,” said Isis District High School student Natasha Ruane. “I had a great time and really enjoyed attending the university lectures and tutorials”.
CQU Education lecturer Rosie Thrupp said that she found the shadowing students were very eager to participate and didn’t appear to be daunted by the experience at all. “I was impressed that they even took notes,” said Rosie.
The shadowing program is run once a year and is advertised through the senior coordinators at your local high school.
