Gospel According to Matthew - SoapBox Forums

Just down from the student refectory there is an outdoor amphitheatre that has been used only sporadically over the years.

It was originally intended to be a public performance-forum space at the heart of the CQU community.

Some of us are hoping to see it resurrected for this purpose. Starting this semester we are hoping that we will have a weekly SoapBox forum, during the designated lunchtime hour on Tuesdays.

What we envision is that once a week someone from the CQU community or wider Rockhampton community will lead a ‘conversation’ on some topic dear to the speaker’s heart.

The speaker would need only to prepare a 10-15 minute presentation and then open the space for conversation.

We are calling for anyone who would like to offer themselves as a ‘conversation starter’ to contact Matthew on ext. 9285 or email him on m.ryan@cqu.edu.au.

You may also nominate someone whom you think would be an appropriate speaker. To draw people down into the amphitheatre we are also looking for musicians or performers to warm up the space beforehand. If there are any musicians/performers who would like to be part of this new initiative please also contact Matthew by phone or email.
