Driving Mr Rupert

Move over Driving Miss Daisy, CQUniversity had its own precious cargo to chauffeur around.
Known to University staff as Mr Rupert, the skeleton made his maiden voyage to Mackay, just in time to meet his new colleagues at the Medical Imaging and Sonography laboratories.
Mr Rupert is strapped in for the ride of his life.Mr Rupert's custodian and chauffeur, Graeme Boyle said Rupert was not just any bag of bones.
He was donated to the University when Dr Thomas Lynch's pathology laboratory closed down in Rockhampton a few years ago.
Since then he has spent time in a CQUniversity staff meeting room and, according to Graeme, "it's a good thing he's generally quiet". However, now he has found a new purpose.
With the commencement of our new Medical Imaging and Sonography programs in Mackay this year, our Technical Services Manager Sue Ferguson thought Rupert would be a valuable resource in the new labs.
So, along with a range of other new lab equipment, Graeme and Sue delivered him to Mackay last week.
No bones about it ... Graeme Boyle drives Mr Rupert to his new home in Mackay.
According to Graeme, Mr Rupert may have some backbone, but he really was a ‘gutless' back seat driver.
"He was a very attentive traveller and had little chance to contribute his backseat driving tips due to the incessant chatter coming from Sue in the front seat," Graeme joked.
