CQU Mackay's got the bird

Fancy a leg of chicken? ... or perhaps a bird? Can you identify the person wearing CQU’s mascot head? The CQU mascot has flown north to Mackay in preparation for the Mackay City Council Australia Day Mascot Fun Run.

PhotoID:603 Sub-Dean of Informatics & Communication Donald Alexander has been picked from a strong contingent of contenders to compete in the 50-metre dash on Sunday from 4.15pm.

“It is an honour to be chosen to represent the University in such a capacity. As a Kiwi I’m regarded as a flightless bird, which makes me particularly suitable for this event,” he said.

CQU Mackay staff gathered for a 50-metre time trial on Thursday afternoon to ensure the most appropriate person had been chosen to represent the campus.

Apart from being a regular gym junkie, Donald is willing to be hugged by children and enjoys showing-off in public.
