Janet is one of a hundred nominations received from bands, choirs, orchestras and other community music organisations from around Australia.
As well as being musical director and conductor for the Unisong Community Choir based at Rockhampton Campus, Janet has had leadership roles with Rockhampton Youth Orchestra and the Rockhampton Chamber Music Society.

According to Awards convenor, Tina Broad of the Music Council of Australia, Janet has provided mentoring, support and development of community musicians within the region.
"She has provided a network of community outreach to a broad cross-section of instrumentalists, choral members and ensemble performers. Through her work, Janet has sought to encourage collaboration between these groups and with other community music organisations to create higher level performance opportunities for members of the Rockhampton regional community," Ms Broad said.
