Afterwards, the students were escorted on a tour around the Campus by the Student Mentors, who help the new first-years settle into University life. They provide a support network to the students to reduce stress as they begin their tertiary education.

Staff and students enjoyed a barbecue lunch before returning to the classrooms to finalise their program inductions for the day.

"It was very pleasing to see the day run so smoothly.  It was a relaxed yet informative day for our eager new students of 2010," Gai said.

"Enrolment numbers were steady this year with a substantial increase in enrolments in the STEPS program."
