Central Queensland University’s top students were recognised at a Golden Key International Honour Society ceremony held at the Gladstone campus this week.
Golden Key is a not-for-profit academic honours organisation which recognises and encourages academic excellence.
Gladstone Head of Campus, Associate Professor Robert Prater said only those students in the top 15% of their undergraduate degree program are eligible to join the society.
“This year, thirty students from the Gladstone campus attended the Induction Ceremony to received their membership certificate and celebrate with family and faculty members,” said Mr Prater.
During the ceremony, Toolooa State High School Deputy Principal, Mrs Raelene Fysh was awarded with an honorary membership in recognition of her dedication to education.
The Society also presented Bachelor of Information Technology student, Annie Vouvoulis with a new member recognition scholarship.
Golden Key is associated with about 350 universities around the world with more than 700 CQU students invited to become members in 2003.
Membership can boost career opportunities following graduation because about 150 corporations in Australia and Asia recognise Golden Key members. The Society also provides international networking opportunities with 600 organisations in the US and Canada involved with the program.
