Engaging Indigenous people within Higher Ed

CQUniversity's Office of Indigenous Engagement recently hosted a visit from the Oodgeroo Unit of Queensland University of Technology (QUT), at Rockhampton Campus.

Professor Anita Lee Hong, Director of the Oodgeroo Unit, and Lone Pearce, Project Officer, met with Office of Indigenous Engagement staff to discuss employment issues and best practice models for engaging Indigenous people within the higher education sector, including governance matters.

Mackay teachers talk the talk 

The Mackay Whitsunday Region will be hosting ‘Teacher Talk 2006’ this month, and the program promises to be both informative and relevant.

Teacher Talk 2006 is an opportunity for teachers and those involved in the Master of Learning Management (MLM) program to present their learning to colleagues.

The event will enable them to share their units of class work; professional development programs; research and learning; published materials; case studies and success stories.

Session topics include ‘E-Tools for Educators’, ‘Boys and Learning – An Educational Oxymoron’, ‘Practical Strategies for Early Maths Students’ and ‘Advanced Thinking Skills in Early Years Education’.

The program is available to all interested staff at CQU and commences at 8.30am on Tuesday April 18 in Building 1.
