Language team can walk the talk
Published on 04 February, 2010
There's a new team at CQUniversity Rockhampton's English Language Centre and they have the range of experience to 'walk the talk' for their students...
Director of Studies Tim Somerset has an extensive track record as an English language teacher and language centre manager, backed up by his academic background in linguistics and English literature. Tim has also studied Aboriginal languages.
Vicki, Peter and Tim are looking forward to a fresh year at the English Language Centre
Senior teacher Peter Morcom spent a decade as a teacher in Queensland - after graduating from CQUniversity predecessor the Capricornia Institute of Advanced Education - before heading to Vietnam as an overseas service volunteer. He has since spent many years in Vietnam working for a succession of schools, colleges and universities, in roles including English teaching, scholarship departure preparation and curriculum development.
Student services contact Vicki Wust has an affinity with her clients, having herself been on overseas exchange programs to Japan and China. Vicki has just completed CQUniversity's LIFT program and is embarking on a business degree which could include some Japanese language electives. Her previous jobs in hospitality included management of the Japanese restaurant in Yeppoon. Vicki's role includes organising homestays and helping students establish essentials such as tax file numbers, bank accounts, computer access and mobile phones.
