PELM helps industry 'come to its sensors'

CQU Gladstone's PELM (Process Engineering Light Metals) Centre is involved in research into intelligent maintenance systems.
PELM's Professor Richard Clegg said the project was examining the detection of substance corrosion.
Although led by Monash University and involving the Defence Science Technology Organisation (DSTO), PELM-based research is being carried out by Professor Clegg, Dr Patrick Keleher and Dr Sead Spuzic.
PELM is involved as a member of the Cooperative Research Centre for Integrated Engineering and Asset Management (CIEAM).
The joint project aims to develop sensor technologies for use in intelligent maintenance systems that will detect and quantify machine degradation and structural damage.
Professor Clegg said maintenance and asset management were big issues for industry.
