Student mentors celebrate in Bundaberg

The Bundaberg Mentor Presentation Evening was held on Friday September 23 to congratulate student mentors for all the hard work they’ve put into the program this year.

PhotoID:2236 Over 30 students, staff and partners attended the evening at the Indian Curry Bazaar Restaurant.

Olive Mallory (First Year Experience Coordinator, Student Services) opened the formal part of the evening explaining the enormous support mentors show to the 1st year students and their willingness to assist with other CQU events throughout the year. They also adopt an integral role during Orientation - we couldn’t do this without them.

Professor Alex Grady also acknowledged the mentors' contribution. Sub-Deans were in attendance and presented the students with their certificates.

The Mentor of the Year Award was presented to Christelle Pearson from Arts, Health and Sciences, along with a $250 cheque donated by Bundaberg Campus. This is the second year Christelle has been a mentor and she has had an exemplary record. Students chosen as Mentor of the Year were nominated by their 'mentees'.
