Engaging Indigenous people within Higher Ed

CQUniversity's Office of Indigenous Engagement recently hosted a visit from the Oodgeroo Unit of Queensland University of Technology (QUT), at Rockhampton Campus.

Professor Anita Lee Hong, Director of the Oodgeroo Unit, and Lone Pearce, Project Officer, met with Office of Indigenous Engagement staff to discuss employment issues and best practice models for engaging Indigenous people within the higher education sector, including governance matters.

International student revisits Rocky campus 

Former CQU international student from Bangladesh, Anis Ahsan (currently Australian citizen), revisited his old university campus in Rockhampton recently with his friend, Mari Iinuma, and her parents Fujio and Kinue Iinuma.

PhotoID:2885 During their stay in Rockhampton, they toured the local area including Yeppoon and Gladstone, also stopping in on Lavenia James at CQU International.

Anis was awarded his Bachelor of Business (Info Systems), Post Graduate Certificate in Management, Post Graduate Diploma in Management and his Masters of Business Administration (Management), all at CQU Rockhampton.

Since then, Anis has worked in China as a university lecturer in Advanced Information Systems Management and as an Academic Support Officer.

He also gave a great hand to the University Authority for the continuous improvement of learning and teaching processes for the Business faculty.

He has also worked with the IT Faculty of the University of New South Wales (UNSW) in Sydney as a casual academic and as an Educational Project Administrator for local Queensland government.
