Marine snails of interest in Venice and Gladstone

CQUniversity Gladstone's Dr Scott Wilson has arrived home from a research trip to Venice in time to host a visit by Italian researcher Professor Bruno Pavoni...

Both scientists are interested in sampling marine snails and other organisms in order to monitor levels of chemical contamination in ports, harbours and lagoons.

Dr Wilson was able to join one of Professor Pavoni's sampling trips around Venice Lagoon and he has since been hosting the Italian's visit to CQUniversity, including workshops for our postgraduate students and presentation of a Rockhampton seminar on The chemical contamination of the Lagoon of Venice and its effects on organisms.

Dr Pavoni is Professor of Environmental Chemistry at the University of Venice while Dr Wilson is attached to our Centre for Environmental Management (based in Gladstone).

The collaborative project was funded by Australia's International Centre for Excellence in Water Resources Management.
