Engaging Indigenous people within Higher Ed

CQUniversity's Office of Indigenous Engagement recently hosted a visit from the Oodgeroo Unit of Queensland University of Technology (QUT), at Rockhampton Campus.

Professor Anita Lee Hong, Director of the Oodgeroo Unit, and Lone Pearce, Project Officer, met with Office of Indigenous Engagement staff to discuss employment issues and best practice models for engaging Indigenous people within the higher education sector, including governance matters.

Gladstone head Viljoen on Visioning Project

CQU Gladstone Head of Campus Pierre Viljoen has been appointed to the Gladstone Regional Community Visioning Project committee, which had its first meeting in December.

According to The Gladstone Observer, the visioning committee will lead the project to enable community members to express views on how the Gladstone region should develop over the next 20 years.

The committee represents a diverse cross-section of the community, including local industry, Indigenous communities, environment groups and health bodies.

Committee members will bring to the table their main issues and concerns, but will also facilitate discussions about positive opportunities in the region now and in the future.
