WA teacher shortage a boon for Queensland graduates
Published on 31 May, 2007
There are boundless opportunities for Queensland education graduates due to a serious problem in attracting teachers in Western Australia, particularly for country areas.
That is according to Professor Richard Smith, from Central Queensland University, who said WA had the oldest teacher profile of any state or territory.
"This ensures major challenges ahead as the rate of retirements increases," he said.
"A young teacher graduate in a booming economy can look forward confidently to rapid promotion and success in this setting."
Professor Smith's Faculty supplies teaching graduates via the Bachelor of Learning Management degree, which is delivered at campuses in Mackay, Rockhampton, Emerald, Gladstone and Bundaberg and via a Noosa Hub.
