Providing all people with access to the built environment will be the focus of a conference at Central Queensland University Rockhampton this Friday afternoon and Saturday.
The conference titled Access for All Beyond Disability was officially opened by Minister for Public Works and Housing and Member for Rockhampton, Robert Schwarten on Friday at 1.30pm at the University’s Harvard Lecture Theatre in building 32. The conference will continue Friday afternoon and Saturday concluding at 4pm.
CQU lecturer Dr Robert Kelso said the conference would feature practical, legal and technical information on constructing buildings with access for all people, not just disabled people.
“The conference will be of interest to builders, tradespeople and people who have a professional responsibility for building access,” Dr Kelso said.
Attendance at the conference is free and morning and afternoon teas and lunch will be provided free of charge.
The conference has been sponsored by the Australian Institute of Building Surveyors, Queensland Government, Rockhampton City Council’s Building Services, Access Recreation and the Local and Regional Government Research Unit from CQU’s Faculty of Business & Law.
