Melbourne student able to apply marketing theory to establish import business

Business student Yan Jue Zhang, or Phillip as he prefers to be known in Australia, was one of two Campus Director's Award winners recognised during the recent CQUniversity graduation ceremony in Melbourne.

Phillip left Guangzhou in China nine years ago to live with his aunt based in Australia.  Since then, with her ongoing assistance and valued support, he has managed the challenge of combining regular part- time work in a local restaurant with successful completion of his studies.

Phillip's successes include achieving the highest grade in one of his courses and competently applying his knowledge of marketing theory to set up a small importing business with friends.   He rates highly the close contact and easy communication with teaching staff at CQUniversity Melbourne Campus as a key factor assisting his learning.

His outgoing nature, perseverance, interest in other cultures and willingness to assist others was readily appreciated by his lecturers and fellow students.

These qualities should serve him well in future and ensure he reaches his goal of completing his Master of Marketing qualification and running his own business either here in Australia or China.
