CRE to be reviewed

The Centre for Railway Engineering (CRE), Australia’s first university-based research centre for railway technology, is up for periodic review and invites members of the CQU community to offer their view on the performance of the centre since it opened in 1994.

PhotoID:684 The review is a requirement of the Guidelines for the Establishment and Review of Research Centres, by which each CQU research centre must abide.

It will be the first external review of the Centre since its original designation and written submissions from stakeholders and other interested parties should refer to their experiences with the centre and relationships with its members.

The review panel will use the confidential submissions to make their recommendations for the future direction, funding and strategies of the Centre.

The aim of the review is to establish whether CRE has met the goals outlined in the Research Strategy Statement since its opening.

These goals included delivering high quality research, adopting a key research profile in railway engineering through the work of expert academic and technical staff, building links with national and international railway engineering groups and achieving recognition for the quality of its teaching and research activities.

The panel will examine many factors including the Centre’s research projects, publications, papers, seminars and budget to determine an outcome.

Submissions can be addressed to the Secretary, Centre for Railway Engineering Review Panel, care of the Office of Research, Building 351, CQU Rockhampton.
