BLM class celebrate final day

Gladstone students from Central Queensland University’s first Bachelor of Learning Management class recently returned to campus to mark the end of their studies with a day of celebration.

PhotoID:1038 The students were part of CQU’s inaugural intake of BLM students, an innovative degree program that marked a radical change in the delivery of teacher education programs in Queensland.

BLM lecturer, Helen Holden said unlike other education degrees, the focus of the BLM is on theory meeting practice. Partnerships between the university and employing bodies such as Education Queensland and Catholic Education were integral for this to occur and these partnerships have gone from strength to strength over the last three years.

Over 20 BLM students returned to campus last week for their final assessment and to celebrate their achievements over the last three years.

The students have just completed an entire term in schools including a six-week internship period where they worked alongside Gladstone region teachers as colleagues.

“Without this invaluable support from local schools and teachers the Education Faculty could not facilitate the exceptional program that we offer here in Gladstone. “It is indicative of the relationship we have with our colleagues in the field that this first cohort of BLM students have had such an enriching experience in schools,” said Mrs Holden.
