National Service Award for Campus Director, CQU Sydney International Campus

Friday 15 March 2002 was an important day for Dr Doug Hinchliffe, Campus Director, CQU Sydney International Campus. At a special presentation at the Victoria Barracks, Dr Hinchliffe was awarded the Australian National Service Medal in recognition of his National Service participation.

PhotoID:22 Prior to his appointment as SIC Campus Director, Doug was a Lieutenant Colonel in the Australian Regular Army and Manager of the Defence Education Training and Career Transition in Victoria. Doug was also in the Australian Army Infantry from 1970 – 1971 and was one of only two national servicemen (conscript) ever to be in the Australian Army Training Team, Vietnam which was Australia’s most meritorious unit.

The National Service Award was presented to Dr Hinchliffe by Mr Mark Jenkin, Manager, Corporate Support and Infrastructure Centre, Southern Victoria. This in itself is exciting as Mark is a graduate of Central Queensland University. Mark’s Award (Master Financial Management) was conferred on 22 September 2000. If you look closely at the photo of Doug and Mark you will notice that Mark is proudly wearing his CQU tie. Mark is now a senior Australian Public Service Officer with the Defence Department based in Melbourne.
